App Name: CURB
  • Goal: Help users understand and manage impulsive spending by tracking stress during transactions

  • Focus: Credit card usage behavior, goal tracking, community support, and emotional awareness.

Objective of Usability Testing
  • Evaluate ease of use and clarity across key CURB app screen

  • Validate behavioral nudges and emotional check-in feature

  • Understand how users interact with goal progress, stress detection, and forums

User Testing Methodology
  • Participants: 12 users (ages 24–45, mixed credit card behaviors)

  • Methods Used:

    • Card Sorting

    • Heatmap

    • Task-based Testing

Purpose: Provide financial snapshot: credit card usage, goals, behavior insight2

  • Loved holistic overview

  • Mood status often missed (heatmap)

  • Overload from too many visual elements

Stress Detection Screen – Findings

Purpose: Touch & hold to scan stress level before transaction to reduce impulsive spending

  • Intuitive “Hold to Scan"

  • Users liked breathing prompts

  • Reward calm purchases with badges

Community Forum – Findings

Purpose: Peer support, saving & Investment tips, and chat with experts

  • User like clear label

  • Preferred anonymous options

  • Clarify badge system (e.g., “Achiever”)

  • Pre-fill prompts to encourage posting

  • Enable quick emoji reactions

Goal Tracker – Findings

Purpose: Visualize financial goals and progress

  • Confusion between personal vs. group goals
